Hello, and Happy Monday! Emily here with a fun and easy challenge for you! One of my favorite scrapbooking techniques (aka: something that I do when I'm having trouble thinking of something else!) is choosing a two, three or four color scheme and then basing my layout around those specific colors. I will then choose papers and embellishments using variations on those colors. For this particular layout, I decided on a tri-color scheme of orange, aqua, and green. I was mostly inspired by the fun colors in the new Treasure Map line, but the photo I wanted to use was pretty much all orange - so I had to incorporate that somehow. If you can believe, that piece of orange triangle paper is actually from the Travel Girl line from a couple of years ago! As I mentioned in past posts, I love how October Afternoon products both old and new are so classic that they can easily be used together!
I used three different badges on this layout. If I'm being honest, I actually wanted to use about six, but it was a little much so I had to cut back to one of each color!
I LOVE the B-side of this Skull Rock paper from Treasure Map. It might be my new favorite background piece of paper. Look for it in lots of layouts to come!!
Finally, I have to share a funny story about this layout and this particular challenge. As I mentioned, this "technique" of using a set color scheme and creating around it is something I do often. And, I was feeling like this particular color scheme was unique and fun...until I later went back and looked at a few of my past posts - only to remember that the last layout I made of my son for this blog used the exact same colors. Oops! I guess I secretly (or not so secretly) love these colors!
I would love for you to play along with my tri-color challenge this week! Pick your favorite three colors, or just go ahead and use mine! Upload your layout to the October Afternoon Flickr gallery, post it on our Facebook page, or connect with us on Instagram via #octoberafternoon. Happy Monday, and happy scrapping!
