Hi everyone, Mou here today wishing you Happy Thanksgiving from October Afternoon!
And today is Thursday, so I have a sketch for you.
I also passed the sketch along to Suz for her interpretation. Here is her take on it and what she had to say about her translation of the design:
"This sketch lends itself perfectly for cardmaking and my intention at the start was to have a pretty literal interpretation of Mou's sketch and to create a gift card holder. But that quickly morphed a bit as I was deciding on which OA line I wanted to create with. When I chose my base patterned paper, that is where my design veered off in a different direction. I went with it. No sense in fighting it when creativity is flowing, right?!
So here is what I came up with. The base paper (Daily Flash Eggnog - Fruitcake - Side B) was the inspiration for the design as I mentioned before. The pattern just reminded me so much of vintage Christmas garlands! So I decided to play off the vertical lines in the pattern and place the Pillow Puffs and Snap Caps as if they were part of the garland, and had them cascading down the card design. I used 3D adhesive to raise up two of the circular Snap Caps. The strip of sentiment along the left hand side is from the Make It Merry collection. Other items used in this card are: Daily Flash - Flash Chip Strawberry Ice Cream "Sign Aboard" Alphas, Daily Flash Eggnog Double Take Stickers (Santa).
Thanks so much for this inspirational sketch Mou! I plan to use it to create several other cards for this holidaty season!" -Suz
And here's my take:
I mixed quite a few October Afternoon collections on this card: the base layer is Bonfire 12 x 12 paper from Daily Flash Apple Cider and so is the pocket (it's great to have double-sided papers, don't you think?); the feather and ribbon embellishments are cut out of Whisper and Gossip 12 x 12 papers, both from Daily Flash Girl Talk line; the pocket insert is a Girl Talk Memory Card; the sentiment is spelt out with Daily Flash Alpha stickers Orange Soda , Strawberry Icecream, and Meringue Mini; and there's a strip of Public Library Daisy Field washi tape along with some dress pattern, handwritten word, and stitching.
I wrote a note on the Memory Card and inserted it into the pocket.
Here's another close up.
Have a fabulous day filled with loved ones, great food, and gratitude. We here at October Afternoon are grateful for all of you. :)
