Today's sketch features six blocks + six embellishments + two arrows + writing in two places:
While I (Vivian) don't normally stick so closely to a sketch, I did this time, using Daily Flash Milk Money for a school-themed layout:
Given that I wanted to use patterned papers with bold colors and strong prints, I turned my photos black and white so that they wouldn't compete. I had fun creating the arrow elements, die-cutting arrow outlines out of black cardstock and backing them with patterned paper from the opposite side of the layout.
Jill joined me today with this fun layout about her dog:
She had this to say about her project:
"When I first set eyes on Vivian’s sketch, I could immediately see the possibilities for a multi-photo layout that welcomed lots of little accents. Rather than extend the six blocks across the layout, I added a border of white space around the blocks, filling it with some inky touches. Actually, the ink wasn’t applied directly here, but rather, to the reverse side of the page. When flipped the page around, I really liked how some of the colors seeped through.
I used papers from the Daily Flash 2 line in a combination of navy, gray, and yellow to work alongside the pics of the gray interior of my car and the crazy yellow dog who is so often found in that interior. I wanted to capture her silliness, and the sketch design allowed me to do that through the integration of playful bits and pieces."
Let's get a closer look at some of the stitching and stamping details in Jill's layout:
