Hi OA fans...Nicole here to urge you to try using trangles on your next layout. I am a fan of basic, non-fancy shapes so a triangle definitely fits into that category. ;)
I opted for a few subtle ways to use triangles on this layout...4 different ways and none of them glaringly obvious.
I love how confetti looks on projects, so I made some using a different shape to scatter around my page. Just cut a thin strip of patterned paper and then hand cut triangles randomly. They don't have to be perfect since you aren't trying to line them up. I used two triangle shaped sequins to point to my daughter's initial in the top left corner...kind of a twist on arrows.
I used papers from the brand new Girl Talk line for the Daily Flash collection...the 'happy girl' card had a polka dot pattern on it that made it super easy to add a triangle border after I used my paper piercer to make holes. Photo corners made from 2 squares (cut in half on the diagonal) round out the fourth technique for adding triangles. :)
Joining me this week is Mandy...she rocked the triangle theme in a bolder way, and the result is perfect!!
"When Nik sent me the challenge of using triangles on a layout I was pretty confident I could actually pull something with triangles off. Now if she'd have asked me a few weeks or months ago I would have been totally lost but in the last couple weeks I've been playing with triangles on my layouts and have come to like the look. I really love this Daily Flash Snapshots line so it was a no-brainer to grab it as I sat to create. I kept my design pretty simple just adding some dimension with pop dots and tracing the insides of my triangles along with some layering. This was a fun challenge I hope we've inspired you today!! Thanks Nik!"
I can't say enough how much I adore her use of layered triangles as borders...all drawing your eye to the stunning photo. Awesome as always, Mandy!!
Hoping that we've encouraged you to give a basic shape a test run...I know I've been shying away from the triangle trend, but now I'm hooked!!
