Happy Monday to you! It's Lexi here with a challenge to kick off the week.
When I try to describe my style I never know what word to use. I like layers and usually details. I'm an embellishment fan. I always feel the need to sew. I always make a mistake. Or two. I normally only do layouts, not cards. I don't know the name for that, but my challenge for you today: do your opposite style. Do you usually do lots of color? Try going monochromatic. Do you like to do lots of product and layering? Go a more clean route. Card maker? Try your hand at a layout. However it is you create, do what you think would be the opposite.
For me, a clean, simple design would be my opposite....so would a card. I decided to try my hand at both opposites for today's challenge and came up with this.
I had to keep from wanting to add a little something here, a little something there. And only one piece of paper...that is plain white? Whoa. I painted the chipboard camera white and brought in color only with my thread and a label sticker. I couldn't get away from the sewing ;) Or the slight crookedness of it. That really is just me, clean style or not.
But I have to say, I like how it turned out. It was a fun change!
Nicole joined me for the challenge and created a layout scrapping with some of her opposite styles, girly and dimension.
How cute is this? And how cute is she?! Here's what she had to say about the challenge: "For me, I shy away from anything too girly on my projects...so I challenged myself to use a few girly elements. Flowers on the patterned paper and sticker, bits of pink here and there and bows that I cut with my Silhouette all felt 'girly' to me. In the end, I like how it all turned out...by sewing the bows in the centers down the page I was able to lift the edges of them up a bit to add some dimension (another thing I stay away from for projects, lol).
So what would be your opposite? Try it out and link us in the comments or add your creation to the October Afternoon flickr gallery.
Have a great Monday!
