Hey there, October Afternoon fans! Lexi here and I had such fun time making a valentine gift in my last post this month I decided to do it again, this time using a combination of Farm Girl and Make it Merry.
The key to using themed product in an unconventional way is looking for specific colors or images. I took the Make It Merry 8x8 paper pad and knew I wanted that "no. 14" incorporated. I mean, how perfect, right? I also tore out a few sheets that had a red & white color scheme.
Going with the Farm Girl theme I decided to use these little pots. Easy to decorate and cheap enough to buy in bulk for classmates, friends, teacher, etc. First, cut a strip of the polka dot paper and staple to the back of the pot. It doesn't look fancy, but who really looks at the back?
The "no. 14" is the perfect size for a heart punch.
I typed my sentiment on kraft cardstock, cut in a banner shape, and then sewed around the sentiment in red. I know, I know. It's cheesey. You can go cheesey at valentine's day. I really tried to find a little kid's sand shovel to include, but the only one I could find was neon orange. Now, I love me some neon and orange is my favorite color, but that was just not going to happen with the colors we had going on here. It's January so I suppose not a prime time for sand castle building tools. But pretend the end result has a cute little pink or silver shovel ;)
Layer pieces from the Farm Girl Miscellany pack with your sentiment to form your tag. You could totally glue this whole thing onto a card front if you would rather have a card instead. You can see I switched out the button and brad from my original supply photo. It wasn't working and I wanted to bring in in more blue to go with the washi strip I added to the pot.
Add your tag, along with a seed packet (that can be planted in the pot you gifted-bonus!), and "soil" in the form of candy hearts.
Who knew Farm Girl and Make it Merry could be so valentine day appropriate? Thanks for joining me today!
