Documenting a day in the hay using the 'Farm Girl' collection

I enjoy cutting paper and creating fun embellishments with them. For this layout, I cut the circle designs with the patchwork-patterned paper from Farm Girl to create this fun flower embellishment.

I absolutely LOVE the buttons and banners. They work so well to add just the right accent touch with your creations.

To make the weathered wood look from Farm Girl’s patterned paper carry throughout the theme of this layout, I distressed the edges of it, and I really like not only the look it gave, but how it pulled the theme together.

The girls love playing on the hay bales around the fields here, and it was such a fun day to take pictures of them to share. October Afternoon’s “Farm Girl” line is just the perfect complement these photos. I love it!

Thursday Sketch Challenge

Hi there everyone. It's Marcy here today with your weekly sketch... so, let's get right to it.

I gave this sketch to our newest DT member... the awesome Nicole Harper!  And here's how she tackled it, and our featured product, the Sew Fun Banners.

"I cut the inside out of one of the Postcards, and opted to use what was left as a frame instead of a second photo. I added my journaling inside the frame as well as a few other bits. The chipboard numbers were stamped with embossing ink and then I used gold embossing powder on them so that they stood out as a focal point for my title. I also LOVE that you can use the Sew Easy banners as intended or like I did here: a few random pieces by themselves...the 'tree' in the frame and the detail pieces above the photo."

I love the Make it Merry line with charcoal grey cardstock!  Sooo pretty.  And that messy-stitched tree?  I'm definately going to have to do that on a page soon.

I decided to leave the sketch pretty much as is and came up with this layout.

The bubble paper from Midway was perfect for this page about my son enjoying the hot tub.  And I couldn't resist throwing that cute rubber duck on the page as well.

Even though the Sew Fun banners are ideal for sewing across as is, I like to space mine out a bit so I sewed mine down after I adhered them to my page.

Sprinkler Tags

Happy Tuesday October Afternoon fans! Lexi here to share all the colors of October Afternoon's Sprinklers. 

I keep a sample of each color on a white tag held together with a  jump ring. I group them on the ring with all the same colors together. This makes it easy to compare which color I am really wanting when working on a project. I type the name and sew it on each tag. You could totally cut out tags with white cardstock and just write the name on it. I am not particular about ANY of my scrap room organization except this. I don't know why!

I noticed on a message board people where asking if there was a place with color comparisons of the Sprinklers so I tried to put that together for you today! I grouped the colors in a way that I thought would help compare this blue to that, etc. The only color I am missing is lagoon and of course, there are 6 new colors coming out with Make it Merry and Farm Girl, which are not pictured. 

Neutrals. Paper Doily is white. Midnight is pure black. Tinsel is a sparkly grey that is kind of hard to see here.

Brownish colors, although Buttermilk is more cream colored. 

Greens. This might be my favorite bunch.

The blue group, not to be confused with the blue man group.

Bluish greys, minus Miss Mary Mack. That is one of my all time favorite colors.

Oranges & Yellows.

Reds & Pinks

monday challenge--sew fun banners

happy monday everyone!  danni here today with you and joined by roree with today's

monday challenge:  using the new sew fun banners in a fun, unique way

these new products are just that,  "sew" fun and i loved playing with them.  to create with this fun, new product, you simply stitch a straight stitch just below the top of the banners you would like to use, in a straight line across the number of banners.  when finished, you simply lift up the first banner and tear out the stitched banner.  these could not be more fun or easy!

i love how she interpreted this challenge and her amazing use of the sew fun banner

 

 

and i chose to create my projects today using the new Make it Merry Sew Fun Banners.  I chose to layer my banners and create Christmas Gift Card Holders using my stitched banners.

 

I created a short tutorial to demonstrate just how easy it is to create one of these gift card holders using 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" gift enclosure envelopes.

as you can see, you can add a lot of patterns by layering these fun banners or you could create your own embellishments (like my Christmas tree) on your next project

Use pre-made embellishments or make your own to accent a project

Hello everyone! I'm so thrilled to be joining OA this month! I absolutely LOVE working with their products, and have always been a fan!

To start with, I really enjoy making my own embellishments, so I created some fun accordion flower embellishments with the patterned papers that coordinated with the rest of this layout color theme.

I love working with enlarged photographs, and decorating around it with layering embellishments and scattering them across a photographs white space with out overcrowding it. I also like creating titles with different fonts and even tying in pre-made stickers that have writing on them. It's a fun way to utilize different elements together.

I really enjoyed using the banners with this layout, I think they are my favorite OA product right now! By creating the partial circle around the title draws the viewers eye right to it. One of the things I love about the banners, is that they have the same pattern on both sides, so you can switch them around, and flip them even.

I added a little stitching around the entire layout and the banners, to bring it all together encompassing the sweet photograph of my Olivia and her little friend.
