Hey there it's Michelle. Before we get back to the weekly grind how about a little Monday challenge? Mou will be joining me for today's challenge which is to use the October Afternoon Midway collection to create any sort of gift wrap. One philosphy that I've always adhered to with my Design Team work is that I do "real life" projects. I like to use my goodies and show others how to use them for every day uses. For my challenge I used the Midway collection to make whimsical embellishments for my daughter Jordan's birthday presents. What a colorful scene this was on the big day!
For the wrapped presents I used manila tags and a large sticker from the 12 x 12 Shape Stickers + a few stars from the Chip 'n Stick sheet. I added loose glitter to all my accents using a simple glue pen.
Here's another tag using the large carousel horse with more stars and glitter. I also add the letter "J" from the 12 x 12 Alpha Stickers sheet.
For more gifts tucked inside a regular gift sack, I created another fun tag, a garland + I stuck on a big sticker. Jordan is the designated gift wrapper in our family and she always pays very close attention to detail so I wanted to make her packages extra special. Curly ribbon is her favorite.
Here's the embellished tag which is actually a Midway journaling tag. I added a chipboard arrow and lots of glitter + a few number stickers to note Jordan's age.
A gift sack is the perfect place to try out the new Sew Fun Banners. You simply stitch through the shapes and then carefully remove them from the sheet. This garland of pinwheel circles is simply adorable on the sack. On the bottom of the sack i added the large "fun zone" sticker + sticker letters to spell out Jordan's name. More glitter makes the package sparkle.
As a finishing touch I used some Sprinklers from other OA collections to create some custom colored tissue. I used an old shipping box and just sprayed the plain, white tissue. You'll need to allow a little time for this to dry. I'm SO gonna do this with more Sprinklers colors for the upcoming holidays. And that's it for my birthday gift wrap. Jordan LOVED her presents. :)
Mou took on my challenge today and came up with a fantastic idea that I think I'll be borrowing to hand out school photos of the girls to grandparents. Here's what Mou had to say about her project:
"When I got Michelle's challenge, my first thought was photo pockets. I diecut mine out of vellum at home. Then with a little bit of Washi tape, some stamping, watercoloring, and some cute patterned papers from the Midway Collection, my little photo pockets were ready in no time. Thanks for a fun challenge, Michelle!"
And thank you Mou! Your photo pockets with your cute kiddos' photos are just too adorable.
Thanks for joining us today. Hope you give the challenge a try!
