Ho OA fans! It's Amy here today with your Tuesday Tutorial.
Chevrons, triangles and arrows are really hot right now in scrapbooking and paper crafting. These shapes are super easy to create if you have a die cutting machine like a Silhouette. However, sometimes I see many of these trends and I think to myself, what's a super fast way of recreating that look so that I don't have to pull out my die cutting machine several times for all the colors I want to use. Or I think about those who may not have a die cutting machine but want to re-create the same look.
Today, I'm going to show you how to create directional triangles that look like arrows, or you can use them to create funky chevrons, too, with two simple tools that most of us have in our stash...
A pair of scissors and a square punch. My square punch is 2" square punch, but you can create the same look with any sized punch.
I like to turn over my punch so I can see which part of my patterned paper is being punched.
Punch out your square.
Take your scissors and cut a straight line across at the diagonal. You'll end up with 2 triangles.
Now, take one of your triangles and line it up over your square so you can estimate about where you'd like to create your interior punch using just one corner from the same square punch.
Insert your triangle piece, lining it up as best you can so that you have a similarly shaped triangle showing, just a smaller size, and punch.
This is what you will come out with. A quick and easy directional arrow. Easy, right?
I like this technique in particular, because I can use several different papers without much fuss at all. And it comes together ini a snap!
I hope you give this technique a try the next time yyou'd like to create a fun and easy new shape!
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a terrific day!
Amy :)
