Happy Monday! Have you ever thumbed through the papers in your stash, thinking about the relationship between the name of the paper and its pattern? I always get a kick out of the names that October Afternoon gives patterned papers. Meeting Minutes. Almanac. Neon Lights. Freckle Dust. Wouldn't those names also make great titles for layouts? That's exactly the thought behind this week's challenge: use the name of a patterned paper as the title for a layout, and then use the patterned paper itself on that layout.
I pulled the title from the following layout from one of the cutest sheets of patterned paper ever, "Guest List," from the Cakewalk collection. I included the guest list for my daughter's birthday party using a strip of Numbers washi tape.
I cut circles in the cardstock, gave it a boost with pop dots, and allowed the "Guest List" paper to peek through.
Even more washi tape (from the Cakewalk and Woodland Park collections) secures the photos to the layout.
Marcy joined me for this week's challenge, taking her title from a sheet of Woodland Park "Blue Sky" paper.
Her photos, featuring blue skies and wide open spaces, are set against that lovely "Blue Sky" paper. Marcy also used patterned strips as well as Woodland Park washi tape to frame the layout itself. This entire layout makes me want to open my arms wide and spin around in a grassy field.
Which sheet of October Afternoon patterned paper will inspire the title of your next layout? We'd love to find out! Be sure to share your layouts in our Flickr gallery.
Happy scrapping!
