Small Town Tradition by Vivian Masket (Holiday Style)
Happy Monday, everyone! It's Amy here again this week with our Monday challenge. But before we get started, if you celebrated Thanksgiving this past weekend, I hope that you had a wonderful and memorable celebration!
This week marks the beginning of December as well as the kick-off of all things holiday! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Channukah, Kwanza, or another holiday, there is something we can all relate to with the romance of this time of the year! I don't know about you, but the onset of my local radio station playing festive holiday music 24-7 really jumpstarts my full on embrace of the holiday season. That is where I came up with the inspiration for this week's challenge - use your favorite holiday song or songs as your muse for a project.
I asked Vivian to join me in this challenge, and as you can see from the layout above, she created a beautiful homage to her caroling tradition as a child. The card she chose from the Holiday Style Miscellany, provided the perfect center-piece for her photo-free page. Here's what she had to say about her project:"I documented my favorite holiday song tradition. Without this challenge, I never would have thought to create a layout about this topic!" . I'm so glad you did, Vivian. It's so beautiful!Favorite Xmas Songs by Amy Heller (Holiday Style, 5 & Dime, Sidewalks, Rocket Age)
For my project, I decided to create a spread for my (first) December Daily album I'm creating this year. Aside from the daily portion of the book, I also want to include "interviews" with my family each year to see how their favorites change from year to year. I decided that a Favorite Christmas Song section would be a great addition to my album, so this is what I came up with. Here it is in the album.
I used a screen shot of my iTunes selection of all of our (current) favorite holiday songs as my photo, and then journaled everyone's favorites on the adorable journaling card from Holiday Style (left page). Besides Holiday Style I also used a product from a variety of OA collections including 5 & Dime, Sidewalks and even the little bear is from Rocket Age! As you can see, everything goes together perfectly!
So, do you have a favorite holiday song, or musical tradition at the holidays? If so, we'd love to see how you intrerpret the challenge using October Afternoon! Simply upload your project to our Flickr gallery here for all to see and enjoy! Thank you so much for joining us this week! Welcome to the Holiday Season! :D
