Happy Friday everyone! Jenni here today, the October Afternoon September Guest Designer, and I have a new layout and source of inspiration to share with you today.
Today's layout features the beautiful Sidewalks line AND focuses on Back to School-- I can't think of a better combo!
The inspiration for this layout came from one of my favorite magazines, Real Simple (September 2011 issue). They have great illustrations for their articles!! One of my favorite ways to design a layout is to find an advertisement or illustration and use it as the base for my design.
Here is the illustration I used for the base of my layout. As you can see, I substituted the blue portion of the illustration with my photos. I used October Afternoon pattern paper on the top and bottom of the photos and made the bottom portion larger than the top. The Jump Rope paper was perfect for adding many different patterns below the photos!
I loved the banners in the illustration, so of course I had to incorporated the banner chipboard pieces in the Chip 'n Stick sheet. I layered stickers from the Sidewalks Sticker Sheet and buttons over the chipboard to create a layered and detailed look.
It's amazing how quickly a layout can come together when you start with a source of inspiration, and then make it your own!
I hope this inspires you to do a little creating over the weekend!
