October Afternoon is delighted to introduce our Guest Designer for August, Michiyo Nobeno, or Poki as she is known by her friends and family. Poki is one of Japan's premier scrapbook designers and we're thrilled to showcase her wonderful design work for you. We believe that her designs are actually quite "stellar"- as you will see by her awesome design work using our ROCKET AGE line. Let's all give a big "Welcome", or "Yōkoso" in Japanese, to Poki!
In her own words...
Hello everyone. My name is Michiyo Nobeno (aka poki) I live in Osaka with my husband and 2 children. I have a busy life, looking after the children and of course housework. I started scrapbooking back in 2008 soon after my second child was born. I got hooked straight away and ever since I have not slowed down.
Scrapbooking for me is very relaxing and I almost can’t live without it. It is totally addictive! Apart from scrapbooking, I have a great passion for photography. My main object is my family and it gives me so much pleasure to create pages with photos of my loving family.
I am in love with OA products, so I am very honoured and to have been invited as a designer guest. Thank you very much for having me!!

Let's take a look at some of Poki's wonderful design work!
My first impression of ROCKET AGE products is a cute boy and a bear are having so much fun in the universe. In our tradition in Japan, We have Festival of the Weaver on the 7th of July every year. We do astronomical observation and we write our wishes on strips of paper and decorate them on a bamboo tree. The photos were taken when we prepared for the festival. My 4 year old son probably doesn’t comprehend the real meaning of Festival of the Weaver, but I hope that his wish reached the stars. I cut out different sized stars then pasted them on the background white paper and then finally I machine stitched the edges of the stars. This has turned out to be one of my favourites.
My son has just turned 4 years old. When I first saw these products, I straight away knew that I wanted to use a photo of my son playing. I think this LO reflects a happy child playing with his toys and being imaginative.
The new release of mist got my attention straight away and stole my heart. I used a creamy orange mist to colour the stars. As I wanted to use a lot more stars in this LO, I used a star punch to punch out many little stars. I adore the colour of ROCKET AGE very much.
October Afternoon sends a huge domo-arigato (thank you) across the Pacific to Poki, for sharing her beautiful work with us all.
