Hi there everyone. Marcy here with a sketch for you today.
I'll admit. It's only recently that I've jumped on the sketch bandwagon. But, I'm on... and loving it. Whenever I feel that I'm repeating myself in my designs I just pull one out. Once I got okay with making a sketch my own, and that it was okay to stray from the original design, I was hooked.
That said, this is the first time I've made my own sketch. Eeek.
And here's my take on the sketch.
I chose to leave the sketch orientation how it was. Instead of using two horizontal photos I used one vertical one. I moved the cluster on the left down near the title and pushed the cluster at the top over to the right. I chose to ignore the large block above the photos and let the large piece of white space from my background hang out there instead. I like how you can see that I used the sketch... the word strip under the photos, the journaling is to the right of the photo.... but you can also see how I changed it and how it evolved as I kept creating.
I also gave this sketch to Kinsey to see what she'd do with it.
Kinsey also kept the orientation of the sketch the same. I like how she rotated the blocked section and put a photo in every space. The title stayed in the same place, as did the journaling. And, by the way, how cool are those embossed circles?
Two totally different layouts from the same sketch!
What will you do with this sketch? Rotate it? Leave it as is? Switch something around? We'd love to see what you do with it! Don't forget to upload your creations to our Flickr gallery here.
