It is no wonder that our April guest designer, Jing-Jing Nickel's work has been showing up everywhere lately. The little details and fun journaling that she adds to all her projects make you want to see more and more. Her layout "Nickel and Dime" is no exception.
We love how the die-cut paper pops against the background and her whimsical title really stands out.
How about we get to know a little more about Jing-Jing?
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am Jing-Jing Nickel and you say my first name like there are nickels in your pocket making that jingling noise, lol. I grew up in Shanghai and Senegal, and lived briefly in Tucson for graduate school. Now I live and work full time as an I.T. engineer in the Twin Cities, 28 miles north of the October Afternoon warehouse : ) You can find me on my blog here.
Tell us about your scrapbook style and how long you have been scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking in 1999 because I love to travel and have a lot of photos from my trips. I began this hobby to document why I took the photographs and I continue today doing mostly just that. I guess my style is that of a story teller, and a humorous one at that.
Are you a layout person or a card person...or both?
I do both but I mostly focus on layouts. I also love making mini-albums. My Christmas mini-album using October Afternoon’s “Very Merry” is on the cover of the Create: Holidays 2010 edition.
What is on your scrap desk right now?
How do I list the contents of a chaotic black hole of scrapping supplies?
What is your very favorite October Afternoon line?
The last one, this one, and the next one.
What can you NOT scrapbook without?
My ruler and pencil. I know this from how often I frantically look for them.
What is your favorite source for inspiration?
Scrapbooking products. Let’s see … 5 and Dime , and I’m thinking... ding ding ding… ideas! See layout above : )
Favorite TV show?
Fringe. The Biggest Loser. American Idol.
Favorite 7th grade memory?
I fell in love with a boy in my class. He gave me a gold ring from his mother’s collection. Then I left the country permanently. You can imagine the rest, or rather, the unrest.
If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead who would it be and why?
Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. I would love to hear about their philanthropy first hand.
Be sure to stop by next Friday to see more from Jing-Jing. We hope you enjoyed the new blog features and all the fun ideas from the design team this week! Have a great weekend everybody!
