Let the season begin!

Good morning! I trust you all had a beautiful holiday weekend! I have some very fun things to share today! Just in time to officially usher in the Christmas season! The first is another card idea from Designer We Love Stacey Kingman. I love how she used bits and pieces of the Thrift Shop line to make her tree. So cute!

The next project comes from Michelle Phillipi! She sent me these photos this morning and I thought it was a great idea! Michelle says "I used my kraft window coffee bags from the shoppe, and I started them all the same with a doily and a die cut tree.  My patterned papers and stickers are all from the Very Merry collection made by my sweet friends over at October Afternoon." For those of you who are looking for Very Merry, it has been such a popular line for us that we have not discontinued it...your best bet is to ask your LSS to reorder or look online at 2 Peas (which has it in stock right now!)

What a great use of "Very Merry!" The little edges of the roof trimmed with glitter is especially cute.

This goody bag was for Ian and I think the gingerbread man is just too perfect!

Card idea from Carolyn King!

What?  It's snowing?  Ahhh, we can dream of warm days by the beach?  Right?  Carolyn's beachy card features the Seaside collection.

Feeling Thankful!

I don't know about you, but this time of year is absolutely one of my favorites. I was driving to work this morning feeling overcome with how grateful I am. I dropped off the kids and they went running in the front doors of school bursting with excitement to be there. I was thankful for the fact that they have teachers there that care about them and support them and do a great job everyday for them. I was thankful for some of the smaller things this morning too...like the seat heaters in my car! It was in the 20's and was super windy. I was also thankful for my job this morning, as I was reminded again that I get to do something I love Monday through Friday. And last but not least I was thankful that these were sitting in my inbox!! Wouldn't this be cute if you altered it to be a Thanksgiving place card? Stacey Kingman sent these over and I thought they were darling!

Here is another card by Stacey...what a great idea to use the number cards for a birthday card. If you need a card for any little one from the age of 1-9 there is a wild card for it! :)

Sharing some love...

I have been seeing the cutest October Afternoon projects all over the world wide web lately. Thought I might share a few things today. I found this darling layout on 2peas this morning by Katie Rose. Her photos steal the show here and I love how they almost look like they are jumping across her page, just like her title implies. Perfect! :)

I love this! I found this one posted by Renata TW also on 2peas and just had to share it here. I think the use of yarn twine here is so creative. I love how in the bottom right corner how she strung a few stars and shells together to make a little garland. It's so pretty!

And a few cards by Charity Hassel too! This fun star shaped card uses our Schoolhouse line.

And look at her roller skate card! What a creative use of our Modern Homemaker line!

It's been frosty here in our neck of the woods...16 degrees to be exact right now! It's getting me in the mood to work on my Christmas card design for this year. Seeing that my parents are currently driving here for Thanksgiving...I think they might have to wait for a few days as I will be totally occupied with spending every last minute I can enjoying their company. Hope you are staying warm and cozy!

Carolyn's card inspiration!

With all of the holiday treats we will be baking (and eating) all season what's not to love about the clever card using the Modern Homemaker collection?!  

Musings from the October Afternoon office...

Let me start this post by saying that we can and will be bribed by candy. We're generally not too picky about what kind of candy. Dan in customer service however is the candy KING. He prefers Jolly Joes (the grape Mike & Ike's.) He has informed me the only place you can acquire these purple candies is from the Dollar Store here in Apple Valley. Needless to say they are a hot commodity! We thought it would be fun to steal his stash and leave a ransom note the other day.

He really needs a bigger drawer for all the candy he stashes here!

He came back to work and reached for his stash the next morning. (Insert evil grin here.) We finally confessed. We returned his stash...and all was good again in the candy king's world. We are easily amused! :)

Onto the scrappy stuff now! Today we have a card to feature by Designer We Love Laura Williams. I saved it for today because I like the word "swell" and Friday together. :) Wouldn't you agree?

She uses the Modern Homemaker line and that super cute Felix the cat clock chipboard piece here, so cute!

The next project is another layout by Designer We Love Lexi Bridges called "The Find." She found this awesome vintage typewriter for $5 and made a layout about it. I love the splatter paint/ink she adds, and those sweet Thrift Shop rub-ons peeking out from behind the photos.

At the top of her project you'll see she has some circles of ink. Lucky for me I have scrapbooked with Lexi more than once and have gotten to watch her in action. She makes those fun circles by spraying her spray ink into the lid that comes with it and then stamps the lid onto her cardstock. The result is a little bit like a stamp, but irregular and fun.

It's a pumpkin muffin kind of day...

I really should not have stopped at the corner gas station after dropping off the kids for school this morning. I knew what the end result would be. I knew I didn't have the strength to say no to that little pumpkin muffin with the giant dollop of cream cheese frosting on the top. I'm sure I just consumed my entire recommended fat grams for the day. But it was totally worth it! :)

I have some super fun projects by our fabulous Designer We Love Celeste Smith! This is such a fun layout...and the title just grabs your attention immediately because the photo is of her husband, and the title reads "June Cleaver." Like a good book synopsis that makes you just "have" to read it! The journaling reads "he cooks, he cleans, he vacuums, he mops, he folds, he straightens, he empties, he fills, he washes, he mows, he rakes, he fixes, he even does windows!...he's my June Cleaver." What a great way to say thank you to your spouse by documenting in your scrapbooks how much you appreciate everything they do! I love this! What a great layout using Modern Homemaker!

And Celeste also made a card using our Schoolhouse line! I love the simplicity of this, it's perfectly perfect. It's always nice to have a card or 2 laying around for teacher thank yous. I am going to be meeting with Tanner's teachers tonight for literacy night and I would love to have a few of these to to pass out. Maybe I'll have a few minutes to whip a few up!

Thanks Celeste! If we lived closer I would bring you a pumpkin muffin. Happy Thursday!

Card Ideas from Designer We Love Laura Williams

Cardmaker whiz (and Designer We Love) Laura Williams came up with two great ideas using the new Modern Homemaker collection.  Totally Fab!!

 

It's snowing...

It's a snowy day here in Minnesota! We got about 8 inches of the fluffy white stuff over the weekend. Both of my kids were in serious need of new snow pants which are required at school we found out yesterday. They send the kids outside to play if the temperature is above zero! It's always an adventure every year when we dig out the previous years snow pants. I swear the kids have each grown like 4 inches! That might be a slight exaggeration, but it sure seems like it. Just another reason to scrapbook...they are growing so fast! :)

Since it's a wintry day I thought I would share a few bright and cheery Modern Homemaker projects. The first is a set of placecards by the talented Vivian Masket! How cute are these? And what a non-traditional use for this line! Monsters...and Modern Homemaker...I like it!

The second is a layout by Lexi Bridges that she made for the CHA summer booth. It's an 8x8 size and she whipped this up in no time at all. When we got together to make some projects for the booth she already had 3 layouts made and just ready to add the OA product. (Obviously we didn't drag our sewing machines to the hotel in Chicago.) So she had this all mapped out ahead of time and had punched the circles and then sewn around them and even added her photo. All she did when we got together was add the patterned paper behind the circles, add some rub-ons and a title...I was very impressed! Don't you love it?
