An oldie but a goodie...

Happy Halloween everybody!  To celebrate the national day of candy and dressing up as monsters (or princesses), we wanted to dig up this adorable Trick-Or-Treat card made by Angie Hagist a few years back.  She used the Night Light collection stamps and paper pieced the door shape.  Isn't it the cutest thing?

One final card from Rae!

For this sweet teacher card, Rae mixes both the Schoolhouse and Report Card collections!  They were designed to compliment each other and as you can tell, they really do!

 

Salutations!

Hello! I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself here so that I can meet all of you fun readers! My name is Heidi Stork and I have recently started working for October Afternoon and am in the process of moving from Illinois to Minnesota to be a part of the "team" there. Some of you may know me from Freehand Scraps, or from CHA, or from Scrap Fest...but if we haven't met yet I would like to say a big "Nice to meet you!" I am so excited to be a part of the OA blog and am absolutely loving my new position with this company. The other day I was sitting at work making a few cards thinking..."Someone PINCH me!" I feel like the luckiest girl in the world and I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you!

I thought I would share a layout I made with some of the DT girls Charity Hassel and Angie Hagist at CHA this summer using the new Schoolhouse line. The lighting at CHA is never good and the original is of course packed! :) So please accept my apologies for the photo quality here. I love this line! I like the look of the border around the layout "grounding" it a little and tying the color scheme together, and those wild cards are a go-to for any scrapper. I used my circle punch to cut the clock out of the card...but then I couldn't just throw away all the text! Right? So I used it for the title. I trimmed the "Tanner" letters from the "Flashcards" patterned paper. The journaling reads "He's always ready for fun!" My little guy is definitely full of life and these photos show his funny sense of humor that I love so much. He teaches me everyday that there is always time to laugh, and laugh HARD!

Rae mixes one of our alphabet wildcards from the Report Card collection with the sweet papers from the Modern Homemaker collection!  They look like they were meant to go together!

Check out this super cute birthday card from Design Team member Angie Hagist.  She mixes the Thrift Shop 8x8 paper pad with the stamps from the Fly A Kite collection.  Super simple and super cute!

October Guest Designer: Rae Barthel

Where do you live?

I grew up in  the northwest suburbs of Chicago, but now call Huntsville, Alabama, home.

Kids?
My husband and I will celebrate our 15th anniversary on October 14th! We have three very smart & VERY funny kids:
Michael is 13, a 7th grader, Boy Scout, super smarty pants, and plays the drums; Lauren is 10, a 5th grader, a pitcher for her travel softball team,
a hip-hop dancer, and full of energy that I would LOVE to bottle and sell :); Matthew is 7, a 2nd grader, Cub Scout, and the most loving boy around!
I am truly blessed with a beautiful family.

How would you describe your style?

Well, sort of all over the map as I like to try different styles, but my work has been mainly classified as classy & elegant, or fun & cute.

How long have you been scrapping?

I have been making cards for about seven years now.

What's your favorite OA paper line?

I LOVE Very Merry!!

What size do you scrapbook?

I don't scrapbook {*gasp*}


Do you make cards?
I LOVE making cards!!! 

Is your scrap area messy or neat?

Very messy & unorganized at the moment. I try to keep it neat, but it just doesn't stay that way very long!!

What camera do you use?

I use a Nikon D60.

What is your favorite OA stamp set?

The Thrift Shop stamp set is darling!


Your favorite ink?
Onyx black Versafine pigment ink

Where do you find your inspiration?

Online galleries, blogs, magazines.... there is so much inspiration everywhere!!!

Computer generated sentiments :)

What's your favorite scrapbooking color?

Good question.... um, I always love using a touch of black on my cards.

What's your most-used scrapbook tool (aside from your trimmer)?

My Cuttlebug!

Slow as molasses

Give us your favorite tip...

I like to ink the edges of paper on my cards to give them added dimension without the need for another layer of paper.
