OA Guest Designer Q&A
Where do you live?
I grew up in the small Indiana farm community of Berne then moved to South Bend after I graduated from college.
Kids?
I don’t have any of my own, but I enjoy spending time with my niece and 4 godchildren.
How would you describe your style?
I would have to say that my style is clean and linear with some techniques and embellishments thrown in for flavor.
How long have you been scrapping?
I started scrapbooking after my trip to Disney in 1998.
What's your favorite OA paper line?
It’s a tie between Ducks In A Row and Fly A Kite.
What size do you scrapbook?
Most of my albums are 12x12, but I usually make smaller themed albums for my vacations.
1 page or 2?
Most of my layouts are 1-pagers.
Do you make cards?
Oh, yes!
Is your scrap area messy or neat?
I do a lot of my scrapping away from home, so I try to keep my workspace neat and tidy.
What camera do you use?
I have two Canon Rebels: a digital XTi and a 35mm.
What is your favorite OA stamp set?
I adore the Ducks In A Row stamps – especially the journaling spot!
Your favorite ink?
I absolutely *love* Colorbox’s Chestnut Roan.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I find most of my inspiration either online or in trade magazines; however, I have found that print ads can be very inspiring, too.
Hand journaling or computer?
I do almost all of my journaling by hand.
What's your favorite scrapbooking color?
My favorite color is green, but I also use quite a bit of blue, brown, and pink.
What's your most-used scrapbook tool (aside from your trimmer)?
I use my scalloped scissors a lot.
Are you a slow scrapper or a quick scrapper?
I am definitely a slow scrapper.
What's your favorite quote?
One of my faves is from Kobi Yamada’s book She: “She designed a life she loved.” I try to make that my daily mantra.
Give us your favorite tip...
As a life-long crafter, I would have to say that my favorite tip is to take the time to be neat, paying attention to the little details.
