Today's sketch is one of my go-to grid designs that I (Vivian) use often for cards. It features six smaller elements in two rows of three above one longer greeting element:
I shared this sketch with Danni, who created this adorable back-to-school card featuring several of the Daily Flash mini collections, including Daily Flash Milk Money. Danni scaled the sketch down for her card, going with a 4 + 1 design:
Danni had this to say about her card: "I was thrilled to receive Vivian's card sketch, because this is such a great go-to sketch and those are my absolute favorite kinds of sketches. This is a sketch that I can see using for any kind of card or season and it just happens that it's perfect for the new Daily Flash line with all the 2 x 2 squares. I needed a school card for my daughter's teacher this week, so this was perfect!"
Let's get a closer look at Danni's card:
Since I've always used this sketch to create cards, I decided to switch it up and use it for a layout. While Danni used the 2 x 2 Daily Flash squares, I went with the larger 3 x 3 squares to scale the size up for my 12 x 12 layout featuring the Daily Flash Girl Talk mini collection:
So...what will you create? A card? A layout? One of each? Whatever it is, we'd love to see your work, so please post to our October Afternoon Flickr gallery.
