Hey everyone, it's Michelle and I'm back today to share a tutorial on how to use the Make it Merry Postcards to embellish some holiday gift sacks. The supplies I used today are Make it Merry patterned papers & Postcards, brown paper sacks, paper doilies, manila tags, red & white baker's twine and a few seasonal holiday items from my stash.
I love to make gift sacks for the holidays that have a handmade touch. I use them for small gifts, homemade teacher treats, handmade cards and more. To begin, stage your supplies so that you get a feel for what the finished product will look like. The vintage style Postcards are so adorable that I want them to be my focal point.
The Postcards don't need much embellishing but some red machine stitching adds a perfect handmade flair without taking away from the designs.
Next, I used the same red thread from my sewing machine to create some messy bundles of thread. Simply wrap the thread around 3 fingers about 5-6 times. Twist the thread into a messy bundle. Adhere to patterned paper embellished tags with double sided tape.
Staple various Make it Merry Tidbits and pieces from the Sew Fun Banners to the tags. These can be used for name tags or simply as decoration for the gift sacks.
To complete the gift sacks, layer the paper doilies and postcards onto the sacks using adhesive. Use the baker's twine threaded with little sprigs, jingle bells and vintage buttons to tie up the sacks and tags. The messy little bundles of red thread will peek out to create a whimsical holiday touch.
Here's the three embellished sacks, all ready for gifts to be tucked inside. Remember the cards I made yesterday for Jill's challenge? They would make perfect gifts for anyone who likes to send cards.
