Hello Monday! We are back from CHA and what a fun time! Thank you to all who stopped by and introduced yourselves. We love meeting fellow October Afternoon fans :)
I knew my challenge day was coming up so while at CHA I started looking at some of the designs in the booth. Sometimes I get too focused on trying to reinvent the scrapbooking wheel--you know, trying to make a great, brand new, fresh design. And that is all good.
But often what I need to do is keep it simple--find one good design element and run with it.
So that is your challenge for today: choose a design element and repeat.
Maybe you want to work with a certain color, a favorite shape or a particular embellishment. Whatever is, use it..over and over. Lots of time the repetition makes for a great design.
You might have seen these next two layouts in the booth. Both use this repeating element idea, as well as the new 9 to 5 line.
In the first one, I used arrows.
Kinda obsessing over arrows lately...and this new wood grain paper.
The arrows were created using my Cameo. It was a set of arrows and I just rotated a few and removed a few to make it work for my layout.
Here, the super talented Becky used paper label strips and the repeated effect is quite stunning.
And since I thought you had maybe seen these layouts before I wanted to give you something new :)
My littlest is LOVING blueberries. Which totlly fits his sweet little messy self. Had to add some sprINKler splotches here and there with Night Sky and Miss Mary Mack to carry on with the messy theme ;) On this layout I repeated a few things..layers, buttons and the color blue.
Most of these papers come from Sasparilla and, while I have never challenged myself to repeat a color so many times, I liked the look.
I thought it was quite obvious that I was trying to make a heart shape with the buttons. My husband thought I was trying to make a blueberry shape ;) Thinking I might go back and add a blue stitched heart outline to help tie it n.
There you have it friends--a repeat challenge. What are you thinking of repeating? Load up your designs in our October Afternoon Flickr gallery and show them off!
Have a great day...and repeat it tomorrow ;)

I don't think you need to stitch around the heart, it is obviously a heart. Besides it might take away from the overall button cuteness.
