Although we live in an age of die-cut machines and electronic cutting tools, sometimes there's just nothing quite like good ol' messy hand-cut charm.
I began by drawing my title and cutting out the letters, and then I arranged them across the B-side of a sheet of Ring Around the Rosie Sidewalks patterned paper. I misted over them lightly using Miss Mary Mack and Hopscotch Sprinklers, colors that would work with those in the photo.
After misting over the letters, I added some painterly splatters, easily created by pulling out the pump mechanism and allowing the excess to drip over the paper.
I then removed the letters and traced multiple times around the negative spaces. I trimmed around the letters to make each one slightly smaller, and then I adhered them all onto the negative spaces. When the adhesive was dry, I then used my sewing machine to stitch around each letter in blue, and added additional details in pink.
Of course, if you aren't ready to part from your electronic cutter or die-cut machine, this technique could easily work with those kinds of letters, too. Messy fun always finds a way. ;)

I LOVE the messy style, but for some reason even when I try to be messy it turns out 'neat' somehow :)! After seeing your LO I want to give it another try!!! Thanks for sharing!

Interesting technique, but have to admit I am more enthralled by the subject matter of the layout :)
