Hey everyone! It’s Kinsey here with a little sketch challenge for you! This week’s sketch is one that I came up with several months ago and has been waiting patiently for its chance to be committed to cardstock, ha! I’ll admit, I have a habit of using one or two photos on each layout because well, it’s just comfy for me…with that in mind, I wanted to ‘walk on the wild side’ a little and do something with way more pics than i’ve ever done on a single page layout. So let’s get sketchy!
I love this sketch because it’s linear and clean but there are tons of options for using multiple photos or a combo of photos + journaling cards/accents without being ‘overworked’. It’s also one of those sketches that would be fun turned sideways as well.
For my take on the sketch, I converted it to 8.5 x 11 (it’s my favorite size right now) and made the scalloped dividing lines a little wonky just to change things up a bit.
I also tweaked the title/journaling here by creating a combination of both that spread through each section. The more I look at this sketch the more ideas come to mind for it- and when I saw Jill’s take on the sketch…well I’m pretty sure it’ll make another cameo in my scrapbook album! Speaking of Jill’s layout…
Here’s the 411 from Jill:
“Although it only called for seven photos, I added a lot more, of varying sizes, but for the most part, I tried to stay true to the design. I love that it works in layers, and leaves room for improvisation and play.
I used papers, rub-ons, accents, and a journaling card from the 5 & Dime collection, along with a teeny bit of Campfire and Modern Homemaker. The banner was created using 5 & Dime Chip & Stick chipboard stickers.
Seriously…how awesome is this?! I love that she added even more photos to her layout and the layers…oh my word the layers :) The way that she stacked the photos, and that rubber charm with the tiny photo of the blue door is genius…can you tell I’m a Jill Sprott fan? Speaking of being a fan…I’m a huge fan of the OA flickr group! Be sure to upload your projects because you might just get some OA goodies or some prime real estate right here on the OA blog!
Happy Thursday everyone! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
