Here is another great layout by our September guest designer, Laura Craigie. Once again, Laura used our Road Map collection for a non-travel themed project. We love this layout - the mix of the stickers, the stitching...what's not to love!?
It's a new month - that means it's time for a new guest designer!! This month's designer is the fabulous Canadian scrapbooker, Laura Craigie. You may know her as LuLu around the web. She has posted several of her projects in the OA Flicker gallery... in fact, that is how we spotted her!
Where do you live?
A beautiful Island on Canada's west Coast.
Kids? 2 very busy little boys, and one husband.. ;)
How would you describe your style?
I really have a hard time with these kind of questions, because I don't know that I always stay with one style.. Some days all I go pretty simple, and other times I like to sit and fiddle with stamps, embellishments, etc.
How long have you been scrapping?
I made my first album for my husband when we were dating in 2000, but didn't revisit this hobby till 2005 when my oldest son was born, and I haven't looked back since.
What's your favorite OA paper line?
Oooh, that's pretty impossible to choose, I love them all! But I think Ducks in a Row has stolen my heart.. those ducks are just TOO sweet :)
What size do you scrapbook?
Lately more 8.5x11, but I still do 12x12 too.
1 page or 2? Mostly one. Although I like to insert regular photo pages into my albums too. So the pictures stay with the pages that match, then I don't feel the pressure to scrap every single picture I love :)
Do you make cards? ALL the time :) Much more often then I do layouts.
Is your scrap area messy or neat?
I truly wish I could say neat. But alas, it is a disaster area.
What camera do you use?
A Canon 30D
What is your favorite OA stamp set?
The Ducks in a Row set.
Your favorite ink? Staz-on, and Distress Ink.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Usually in the oddest places, like looking at my shampoo bottle label in the shower or something. I try to keep a little notebook of quotes, sketches, etc to keep my ideas safe till I can get to them. I have a horrible short term memory, and would be lost with out lists, and notebooks.
Hand journaling or computer? Computer. My printing is terrible, and my writing even worse. But I do make sure to write my boys letters and tuck them in so they can see my writing in the future if they should be curious.
What's your favorite scrapbooking color?
Aqua, or green.
What's your most-used scrapbook tool (aside from your trimmer)?
My Sewing Machine, I use it on everything!
Are you a slow scrapper or a quick scrapper?
Pretty average. I couldn't even hazard a guess since I rarely complete a layout in one sitting. I like to sleep on them.
What's your favorite quote?
Everything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end. (Unknown)
Give us your favorite tip...
Let go of the idea that everything has to be perfect, you'll give yourself the freedom to really create, and even if you don't love it, that's the beauty of our hobby, there's always another page/card right around the corner.
Here are a couple recent cards by Laura...more to come throughout the month!
